Lúcio Monteiro was born February 1st, in 1964 in Mozambique. In 1974 he travels back to Portugal. At the age of merely 13 years he made his first steps as DJ in a club in Cascais (Portugal), named “PSI”. Ever since he has continued his DJ career in Portugal with the objective of featuring quality sounds, constantly updating his work, refining his technical skills and offering musical diversity. At the end of the eighties (1989), he climaxed as resident DJ of the legendary “Alcântara-Mar” club (Lisbon). His international career started in 1990 with a trip to Brazil, where he decided to settle down in 1999, after having shut down his own club - called “Deep Club” - in Cascais (Portugal). In the final days of “Deep Club”, he started the project “Lisboa Vice” together with DJ Bruno Correia. Between 1999 and 2001, they presented their work in the major clubs in São Paulo, Florianopolis, and Campo Grande (Brazil); such as: “D-Edge (Matriz), A Lôca, The Bar, Lov.e, Jazzy, Sutra, Stereo, Café Cancún, U-Turn, BCBG, Manga Rosa, Base Diesel, Bantu, América, and THC, just to name a few. “Lisboa Vice” also performed in the university stadium of São Paulo (USP), along with Green Velvet, Mau Mau, Renato Lopes, and George ACTV, at the awesome party, named“gradiente” back in 2000. In Portugal he has also played in Lisbon’s major clubs, such as Lux, Indústria, Queen's, Alcântara Club, Op Art, and in further clubs throughout the country: Coc, Frolic (Estoril), Bafureira Beach Club (Parede), Horta da F, Maré Alta (Porto), Kadoc (Algarve), Clube da Praia (Zambujeira do Mar), Império Romano (Marinha Grande), as well as in bars, like: Estado Líquido, Mexe Café, Fluid, Absolut Café, Arena Lounge (Casino Lisboa), among many others… Lúcio Monteiro also performs regularly on the Madeira Island in Funchal, in the clubs “Marginal” and the “Café do Teatro” to be precise. And he rocked the “Celeiro” club on the Azorean Island of Terceira.When it comes to the universe of house music, he is very sweeping (just like house music itself is). His sets are consistent and with powerful bass lines, without ever loosing the rhythm, including elements of all genres of house music. This could go from ambient lounge to tech house, passing the finest deep house, as well as the classic house sound, and a very unique style of jackin’ house, similar to Derrick Carter and Joey Youngman, with a groove, rhythm, and move (coming from the funk) that will definitely make you dance! In 2007 Lúcio is dedicating most of his time to his studio works, and playing at Lisbon’s underground clubs and bars.
